Zoning bill includes prevailing wage requirements

A new assembly bill mandates prevailing wage for new housing development near public transportation in some Northern California counties. Lawmakers want to encourage local governments to enable more housing near public transportation. The bill allows local governments two years to update their zoning plans, and requires a set aside of 20 percent of new homes below market for low-income and middle-income residents.
