Employment Law

Can I be fired if I complain about discrimination at work?

Legally, your employer cannot fire you for filing a complaint or threatening to file a complaint about a situation such as discrimination. If your employer does fire you, you may be able to work with an attorney to file a wrongful termination suit. We recommend that you consult an Orange County employment attorney at Donahoo & Associates to see what we can do to help.

My boss said he won’t give me a raise unless I go on a date with him. Is this sexual harassment? What can I do?

That sounds like a classic case of sexual harassment. By consulting a lawyer, you can get a better idea of what to do at this point. Most importantly, don’t keep quiet about the incident. Make sure you file a complaint at work. If your complaint goes unanswered, you and your attorney may be able to file a lawsuit against your employer for this wrongdoing.
